Pottery Moonlight Mugs are hand made by me, by throwing the clay on a potter's wheel and forming into cup shapes, letting them dry to leather hard then trimming and adding handles. After that underglazes in blue and purple were added and then the moonlight in the pines scene is carved into the clay. Next, they were allowed to dry, then bisque fired, glazed to become functional and then fired to a higher temperature to melting the glaze and vitrifying the clay.
This pair of matching usable mugs was created using this 3-4 week process that wasn't rushed for the risk of cracking or breakage in the kiln. The clay was fired to cone 5-6. The bisque cups were glazed in creamy white on the inside, and left matte on the outside for contrast and emphasis of the carving. The underglazes overlapped creating a combined sapphire blue, violet purple and periwinkle combination.
Creating pottery involves a bit of science, chemistry and artistic skill along with time and patience.
The mugs measure 3.75" wide x 4.5 " tall.
While they are dishwasher and microwave safe, I recommend gentler care, like hand washing with mild dish soap.
Inspiration came from evenings at Sand Harbor State Park near Incline Village NV and then beauty of the moonlight over the beach, rocks, and trees.

Care instructions
All beaded jewelry can be carefully hand wiped with a damp cloth. Please do not rinse under water or the thread will shrink and the jewelry will change shape and become tight.
All clay buttons are hand washable only.
